Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a brace on his return for Real Madrid as they defeated Getafe 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.
Ronaldo returned to the line-up after being rested for the clash against Espanyol earlier this week.
The opening stages proved to be a quiet affair, with the game's first chance arriving after 19 minutes when Angel forced Real goalkeeper Keylor Navas into a low save.
However, Real broke the deadlock on 24 minutes as the ball fell kindly for Gareth Bale, who sent a fine strike into the bottom corner from 12-yards out.
Dani Carvajal nearly doubled Los Blancos' lead in the 39th minute with a low strike from 20-yards out that sailed inches wide of the upright.
Real did manage to find a second goal on the stroke of half-time as Ronaldo skipped past two defenders before firing a left-footed strike into the bottom corner from 18-yards out.
Two minutes into the second half, Getafe were reduced to10 men when former Chelsea striker Loic Remy was sent off after picking up his second yellow card.
Getafe pulled a goal back in the 65th minute when Portillo converted a penalty after Nacho Hernandez brought down Jorge Molina.
Ronaldo restored Real's two-goal cushion in the 77th minute as the Portuguese forward rose well to head home Marcelo's cross at the near post.
Neither side could find another goal in the closing stages of the second half as Los Blancos ran out convincing winners on the night.
